Private Home Caregiver - Austin, TX | Two Paid Weeks

Looking for a private caregiver for our 81-year-old dad, Robert, in Travis Heights neighborhood of Austin. This is a direct hire position. There is no agency involved. You will be working directly for the family, which will give you the opportunity to build a close working relationship over time.

Robert had a stroke 18 months ago and is now walking with a walker. But his mind is still sharp. He reads the paper daily, follows baseball closely, and has strong opinions about Texas history. He wants a carer who respects his routine and has meaningful conversations, not one who treats him as fragile.

The family comes to visit on weekends and stays in touch during the week. They are organised, communicative and fair. The last caregiver left to go into a full-time nursing program. Had nothing to do with the family or position.

Daytime caregiver job...no nights, weekends, or unexpected schedule changes. Travis Heights home, a clean, single-story house, with a private bathroom available for the caregiver. Robert’s car can also be used for driving to appointments.

Job Responsibility

• Arrive by 8 AM and help Robert with his shower and morning dressing
• Prepare and sit with him for breakfast — he prefers eggs and coffee
• Drive Robert to medical appointments using his personal vehicle
• Keep him company through the morning — conversation, sports on TV, reading
• Prepare lunch before the shift ends at 3 PM
• Handle light tidying of the kitchen and common living areas
• Keep the family updated on Robert's daily condition via a short text or call

Pay & Benefits

• $35,360 – $41,600 per year based on experience, paid weekly via direct deposit
• Two paid weeks of vacation after 90 days of consistent employment
• Mileage reimbursement for all medical appointments and errand travel
• W-2 employment — the family's accountant manages all payroll and taxes
• Private bathroom in the home available for caregiver use during shifts
