Job Description

Royal Mail delivers letters and parcels to every address in the UK every working day. Their Glasgow Dixon Street delivery office is one of their busiest in Scotland and right now they need Postal Workers to join the team. No experience is needed and the pay is good for physical outdoor work.

You will be sorting mail in the delivery office early in the morning and then out on your round delivering to homes and businesses in your assigned postcode area. It is independent work — once you are out on your round you are on your own. If you like being outdoors and working without someone watching over you all day, this job suits that well.

What You Will Be Doing

Arrive at the delivery office early morning and sort your mail for the day
Organise letters and parcels into the correct delivery order for your round
Load your delivery bag or vehicle and head out on your assigned route
Deliver letters and parcels to every address on your round accurately
Obtain signatures for tracked and recorded items
Leave cards for items that cannot be delivered and take them back to the office
Return to the delivery office at the end of your round and hand in any undelivered items
Report any issues on your round — unsafe addresses, road closures, or incidents

Pay and Hours

£12.75 – £14.00 per hour based on round type and experience
Full time: 40 hours per week
Monday to Saturday — Sundays off
Early starts — most rounds begin between 6am and 8am
Finish time depends on your round but most postal workers are done by early afternoon

Requirements

Right to work in the UK
18 years or older
Physically fit — you will be walking several miles every day carrying a bag
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather — rain, cold, and wind are part of the job
Reliable and able to complete your round without needing to be chased
Basic English to read addresses and fill in delivery paperwork
A driving licence is useful if a van round becomes available but is not required for a walking round
No previous postal or delivery experience needed
